School Improvements
September 8, 2010
Dear Parents/Guardians:
I believe these are exciting times at MVU. The hard work from the past few years is beginning to have positive effect. As you know, MVU like many national and Vermont schools is identified under No Child Left Behind legislation, meaning we have a set of required actions pursuant to the statutory mandate. That list of actions is listed on our web site, as well as, our 2009-2011 action plan to address our continuous improvement. The School Board also has and updates regularly a strategic plan based upon data and results. Their strategic plan is also on our web site. As parents and community members you are encouraged to become involved through your advocacy by serving on various committees, joining the School Board or speaking with any MVU staff member.
As a result of the above, our test scores have improved. We are proud to say that one of our sub groups identified has increased enough to be removed from the State identified list. The MVU team is determined to continue this positive trend. Enclosed is a graph that shows continuous improvement in all tested areas from the 2007, 2008 and 2009 school years. If you wish to see other NECAP information you can go to: http://education.vermont.gov/new/html/pgm_assessment/data.html#state.
Part of continuous improvement is parent involvement and good communication. In that spirit we are at the point where we can provide access to your student’s current grades and attendance through the internet.
A demonstration of how to login to PowerSchool from your home or work computer is scheduled to take place at our high school open house on September 15 and also at our middle school open house on September 22. If you are unable to attend either demonstration a link will be provided on the school web site following the September 22 open house that will provide you with step by step instructions. If for some reason you are unable to access this information please contact Deb Larose at ext 155 (high school) or Wendi Dusablon at ext 133 (middle school), they will be happy to assist you.
Sincerely,
Bob Pequignot
Principal
